“Ecco” provides intuitive feedback about the electricity consumption behavior, both in real time and at regular intervals through a mobile based app, an online community and the final electricity bill. So the user will know when and where he/she can improve on, and reduce cash burnt and carbon emission. This ideal feedback gives an emotional connect to a rational goal.
The project was selected as one of the final twenty products and services with a potential of contributing to environmental sustainability, as part of the Green Design Competition organised by Dutch Design Week (DDW) and the Dutch ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation (EL&I).
The feedback should be given in real time in an intuitive,
non intrusive and noticeable manner.
The users are provided with the information in real time and in relevant format, reminded of the social and financial incentives and if the users improvise on their behavior, they are provided with instant gratification: the melting ice caps form back!! Besides they can choose to be a part of Ecco community, compare consumption and share their conservation strategies, tips, and suggestions.
The actions by consumer are turned into points and delivered to them through printed or online bills, in collaboration with the local electricity providers. It gives an emotional connect to a rational goal and encourages them towards further action.
